On May 12, 2023, ILO members agreed to adopt guidelines to promote decent work in the agri-food sector. This agreement impacts the lives and livelihoods of over 1.3 billion workers worldwide.

Experts from government, employers’ and workers’ organizations came to an agreement on a critical set of guidelines for decent work in agri-food systems. Encompassing four pillars of the ILO’s Decent Work Agenda, this document provides guidance to constituents and other stakeholders for the design and implementation of decent work in the agri-food sector towards the goal of establishing sustainable and resilient food systems across the globe.
